Watch this Space - World Tea Expo
starts Friday…. This is the main tea event every year in the US and it is where we find out what’s up in the World of Tea.
We’ll post relevant info here as it unfolds.
Souvia Tea on Sonoran Living Live
Souvia Tea was featured in an Iced Tea Segment on Sonoran Living Live on 13 May. You can see the video on the Sonoran Living site. Ignore the verbiage about Sun Tea as we did not really talk about that.
For you pu’er fans
An interesting article in the New York Times on the small village of Pu’er in China. This article talks about how Pu’er grows wild there like blueberries in Maine and how people just pick it and process it. Also, some confimration of the pu’er craze going on in China.
The article only briefly mentions aged pu’er and highlights the potential to get ripped off on aged cakes. If you like to buy that kind of thing just make sure you work woth a reputable supplier and if it is 10 years old, it should be VERY expensive, think >$200/pound or more retail.
The trees in Pu’er are very old and produce large leaves, there are also cultivated varieties.
Souvia and ABC15 Smartshopper

![]()
Watch for Souvia Tea on ABC15’s “Smartshopper” program with Daphne Munro on Thursday, August 23rd at 5pm. We cover the differences between teabags and loose tea. We use some loose tea from a popular gourmet store here in the valley and compare it to equivalent loose teas.
Enjoy!
Tea and Art
At Souvia, we do our best to support local artisans and crafts people. In July, we hosted Nicole Royse at our Scottsdale location for a one night showing. It was well attended at even got a mention in the East Valley Tribune. Nicole will be back in September and we’ll try more of these types of events as time progresses.
Tea’s a Passion at Souvia - Arizona Republic
If you are a regular at Souvia, you already know this! But the Arizona Republic just published a nice article that articulates it well.
Some excerpts:
“Since its origins in China 5,000 years ago, tea has been known to build community, and at Souvia, you can get to know people on a first-name basis”
“Tea is one of Wingert’s passions and she can sit for hours and talk tea.”
The whole story is here
